Plungington is an urban district of Preston, England, to the northwest of the city centre. It is in an area now largely occupied by students attending the University of Central Lancashire. Historically, it was an area of working class terraced housing dating from the late 1880s, some of which have been demolished. The origin of the name might derive from the undulating nature of the area, or, it could be eponymous as many of the nearby streets are names of persons.
